Biapenem is a carbapenem antibiotic that can exert antibacterial effects by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Biapenem is stable to human kidney dehydropeptidase-I (DHP-I) and can be administered alone without combination with DHP-I inhibitors.
